Wands are used for pretty much every carpet cleaning. Since 1947 when hot water extraction became a thing, wands have been made and updated and modified. Over the years, companies have tried to perfect the wand system to give technicians the best design and better quality, The better design and quality of the wand the better quality of the clean. While some use wands for their entire cleaning process, others only use it for smaller areas and corners and crevices. The top leading brands and versions include: Hydramaster Evolution wand, Devastator swivel wand, and TMF (truck mounted forum) modified wand.
Each synopsis will go over:
Weight- Which mainly relates to the technicians fatigue levels and ease of the cleaning.
Material- The material a wand is made up of will effect the weight and durability of the wand.
Presence of a glide- A glide makes the wand slide easily across the carpet.
Swivel- Wands with swivels give the technicians the ability to clean under furniture and in tighter spaces.
# of jets- The number of jets a wand has also determines the amount of water and solution being put into the carpet. The more jets, the more water and solution. More jets equals more dry times.
Sight window- Wands with the sight glass on the head of them allow the technician to see the dirt and solution being extracted from the carpet.
PSI- The greater the PSI the greater the agitation.

Glide: The airtight Derlin acetal design allows the wand to glide effortlessly across multiple types of carpeting.The tapered sides of the glide allows the seal on the fibers to keep together.
Swivel: It does not have a swivel option or swivel attachment. A swivel allows a technician to get underneath furniture and into crevices.
# of jets: There are 6 jets that spray into the carpeting.
Sight window: The wand does not have a sight glass to see what is being brought up from the carpet.
PSI: The PSI is measured to be 1200.
Other features: Uses laminar airflow to its advantage. Improvements of use of airflow increases about extracted and reduces dry times
Weight: The Devastator Swivel wand is estimated to weigh about 8.10 pounds.
Material: The wand is made up of an aluminum head and titanium tube.
Glide: It does have the glide function to move easily across carpet.
Swivel: The devastator does come with a swivel function that allows you to get underneath furniture and in smaller spaces. The swivel does require to be lubricated and greased for maximum efficiency and usage. It does not have a swivel lock.
# of jets: 6 flow stainless steel jets.
Sight window: Does include a sight window to see the extraction at work.
PSI: There is no mention of PSI.
Other features: Rust free supply lines.
Includes high suction, mass water recovery, and high cleaning power.
Weight: The modified swivel wand has not been weighed since manufacturing release.
Material: The tube of the wand is made up of titanium which makes it lightweight.The head of the wand is made up of machined aluminum.
Glide: The glide built in makes the wand slide easily across the carpet.
Swivel: The technician can also lock the swivel into place so that they are not fighting to keep it straight and in the upright position.
# of jets: There are 4 jets that make for an 8 flow system.
Sight window: The sight glass that is a part of the equipment is included to show the solution being pulled out of the carpet.
PSI: The PSI ranges between 500-1200.
Other features: The modified TMF wand also comes with a hose heat shield to protect from being burnt by the high temperature of the heated water.
A temperature gauge that is built in lets the technician know when the water is heated up and ready to go. This wand has an adjustable ergonomic handle that makes the wand more manageable and gives extra support.

The PSI is strong enough to cause agitation in the carpet fibers without pumping too much water at a high speed. The adjusted ergonomic handle is handy for giving the technicians extra stability. And the hose heat shield protects our technicians and any of the customers furniture from being burnt. Part of our success in quick dry times of 1-3 hours is due to the type of wand we use. All in all the TMF wand has been found the best to use by this Chem Dry company.
